Naru Japanese restaurant (NS) Ltd. is looking for a Cook, Ethnic Foods (permanent / full time position).  Job title: Cook, Ethnic Foods (NOC 6322)  Terms of employment: Permanent & Full time Position  Location: 216 Bentinck St, Sydney, NS B1P 1G8  Start Date: July 1, 2021 Key Duties and Responsibilities:  Oversee the kitchen operations  Season and cook food according to recipes or personal judgment and experience  Supervise and coordinate work activities and schedules of kitchen staff engaged in food preparation  Prepare and cook complete meals or individual dishes and foods, which include sauces, soups, salads, vegetables, meats, poultry and/or fishes  Prepare dishes for customers with food allergies or intolerance  May plan menus and determine food portions  Create high quality sushi by cooking rice, rolling sushi, and cutting rolls  Place purchase orders and/or requisitions for procuring necessary, food ingredients, supplies, etc.  Maintain inventory and records of food ingredients, supplies and equipment  Estimate expected food consumption and requirement  Check the quality of raw and cooked products  Check the quantity and quality of received products  Weigh, measure and mix ingredients according to recipes or personal judgment, using various kitchen utensils and equipment  Inspect kitchen and food service areas  Maintain sanitation, health, and safety standards in work areas  Train kitchen staff in preparation, cooking and handling of food Cuisine specialties  Japanese cuisine Academic, Training and Experience Qualifications  Secondary school graduation certificate required  Several years of previous experience in commercial cooking industry required Work conditions and physical capabilities  Fast paced environment, Work under pressure, Tight deadlines, Handling heavy loads, Physically demanding, Combination of sitting, standing and walking, Standing for extended period of time, Attention to details, bending, couching, kneeling Work Site Environment  Wet/damp, Noisy, Odors, Hot Wage  Salary: $13.50 per hour for 30~40 hours a week at 52 weeks a year Flexible Working Hours  Day, Afternoon, Evening, Night, Weekends Benefits  Vacation pay: 4% remuneration of total gross salary Please send your resume at naru.hiring@gmail.com. ** Naru Japanese Restaurant (NS) Ltd. hires on the basis of merit and is committed to employment equity.
