Job Description

Sushi S Japanese Restaurant is looking for a F/T, Permanent sous chef

Position: Sous Chef
Available Position: 1
Terms of Employment: Full-time, Permanent
Wage: $35.00 – 37.50
Work Hour: 30-40 hours per week
Benefits: 4% vacation pay
Work Location: 1-4739 Willingdon Avenue, Burnaby, BC V5G 3H5
Job Duties:
-Select and portion raw fish, seafood and food ingredients for service.
-Supervise kitchen operations, and oversee cooking orders with attention to dietary conditions and custom orders.
-Prepare entrees and mains, and restaurant’s signature dishes including sashimi, Japanese hot dishes and daily specials. Supervise plating before orders are served to customers.
-Train cooks and kitchen staff, help develop training program and manual for kitchen staff.
-Supervise kitchen operations to maintain hygiene and health standards.
-Maintain food inventory and records of food, supplies and equipment
-Assist head chef with quality control, and developing new recipes and specials.

Requirements:
-Completion of secondary school
-Completion of an apprenticeship program or culinary school program is an asset.
-At least 3-5 years of Cook experience in commercial Japanese and sushi kitchen is required.
-English is required
